The term "come out of the closet" was coined in 1869 by German gay rights activist Karl Heinrich Ulrichs to describe the act of announcing to friends and family the nature of one's sexual identity.  The term has become quite common in the modern lexicon, so much so that to simply call a person "out" signifies that person is an open homosexual, bisexual or transsexual.  The coming out process, though a risk, has been found to be psychologically and spiritually beneficial to homosexuals who have been keeping their sex life a secret from their loved ones.  Gay activists urge closeted homosexuals to come out in order to demonstrate to the world the true size of their community.  However, the cruel world we live in is not altogether accepting of homosexuals and often times closet-dwellers fear coming out will cost them their careers, their social status and even sometimes, their family.  Coming out is often the hardest thing a homosexual ever has to do.  No pun intended.  Flumesday applauds those brave individuals all around the world who put everything on the line to be true to themselves.  Coming out is never easy.  Nor does it always go as planned.  And with any process, there are good ways and bad ways to go about it.  Here are the 10 worst:
