Big Pimpin' Up in P.R.C.
Jay-Z to Shanghai

According to the management of Hongkou stadium in Shanghai, rapper Jay-Z has scheduled an Oct. 23 concert there, making him the largest rap act ever to grace mainland China.  As the Shanghai Daily reported on Aug. 25, Jay-Z will be joined on stage by his "boo", Beyonce Knowles.  This concert should be one of the best Shanghai has ever seen.  Except for one small thing: Jay's own website has him slated to perform in Singapore on the same night.  The Shanghaiist published a piece on the scheduling conflict last week.  Maybe Chinese promoters should iron out this small wrinkle before putting tickets on sale.  What I wonder is whether Jay-Z is worried about running into his old Chinese girlfriend.  You know, the girl he sang about in his famous song "Girls" from The Blueprint.  He reportedly "had to leave her quick because she kept bootleggin' his shit."  In a town with a very weak music scene, a Jay-Z show is something special.  Ticket info on the "Jay-Z Vocal concert" is here.
